WHY SHOULD YOU WORKOUT FROM HOME

Snapseed.jpg

As someone who has consistently worked out from home for over 6 years now, I can tell you that it is one of the best things I could have ever done for myself. It is also PROOF that you DO NOT need a gym or fancy equipment to be fit. I’ve dabbled at the gyms back in the day and it was never something I could commit to in the long term. And that’s what it's about, right? Finding a sustainable way to incorporate fitness into your life. If you’ve been struggling with staying consistent at the gym, I implore you to give working out at home a try and here’s why:

YOU SAVE MONEY

This one is a no brainer. Gym memberships are expensive. Yes, there are budget friendly ones, but you’re usually sacrificing something, whether that’s equipment or space. Working out at home significantly cuts down the cost. Pretty much all you would spend money on is any type of equipment you would like to have. Sounds good doesn’t it?

YOU SAVE TIME

This is a BIG ONE because a lot of us are already so time poor. Think about it. Going to the gym takes time out of your day. You need to get dressed, commute to the facility, do your workout, commute home, and then get ready for the day. When you workout from home, your only commute is from your bedroom to your living room or basement. Quite a bit of a difference in commuting times, no? You get that time back and you can use it to get other things done!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO SHARE

At gyms you need to share equipment and people aren’t as clean as you think they are. At home, you don’t have that problem because it is only you. Not having to share also means that there is no waiting for certain equipment to open up. You can stay in your workout groove and get it done in record time!

THERE ARE NO TIME RESTRICTIONS

With a gym establishment, you are on THEIR time. You can’t just go and workout whenever you please (unless it’s one of those 24 hour gyms, but even still, they have restrictions). You are usually restricted to a certain time period and if that doesn’t work for you, well guess what? Looks like you aren't getting your workout in that day. Can’t say the same when your workout space is in the comfort of your own home ;)

NO CROWDS

How many times have you gone to the gym and found it ABSOLUTELY MOBBED? It’s the worst. You are on top of each other. You can’t get into your workout. It just ends up being a huge fail. But at home, there are no crowds. You can get your workout done without any stress a crowded gym may put on you.

NO ONE IS AROUND TO JUDGE YOU

This one is huge, especially for people who may be just starting out on their fitness journey. Gyms are intimidating and it’s easy to get caught up in thinking that everyone is watching you. Truthfully, everyone is too absorbed in themselves to actually notice, but nonetheless it is a real concern among many of us. This is why working out from home is so awesome. When you’re at home, it is just you. You are free to do you without any judgements or extra eyes on you. You can get comfortable and try out new exercises you’ve never done before. All judgement free!

Have I convinced you yet? I can probably go on and on about how great working out at home is, but I’ll stop at those reasons. And look I get it. Gyms aren’t all bad. They do allow you to form a sense of community, but as someone who values the above, home workouts are where it’s at!
